Blog 1: Artist Statements

We are many things as humans. For example, I am a daughter, sister, friend, student, confidant, and a creative. I believe we are all creatives. Each human being ended up here somehow and all have a unique story to tell. I am in love with the journey of life, and all the good and bad that comes with it. Ultimately, the people we are all today are made up of all our past experiences. My version of being a creative is capturing the small simple moments in someones story that build up to who they are today. I would like to bring out the rawest version of one's story by using the tools we learn in this class.

I wanted to be a psychologist once, but after interning at a production company this summer, I realize that I thrive in creative environments where many people work together to produce a piece of art. I really enjoy talking, learning, and helping people understand WHY they are the way the are, in hopes to contribute to their personal growth. The skill of understanding human decision making, how emotions are evoked, or what allows us to be humans, are found in many filmmakers. We are all unique people, but fundamentally the same. I hope to be able to capture the rawness of any and all versions of a person, and provide them, as well as my audiences the proper tools/questions to ask themselves to dig deeper within and reflect on their own life.
